Economy of Nomad Pastoralists and their Migration Cycle

Mariam A. Soharwardi has keen interest in research work. She has great contribution in conducting case studies of different rural areas of Pakistan. In her views research is an organized and systematic way of finding answer to questions. In this book her research is focused on nomadic life style of Cholistani peoples, their livings, culture and analysis of their income and expenditures. She also highlights the reasons of migration and wonderfully present their migration pattern which is seems to be seasonal. Her work is very helpful for those students who are interested in the research of desert areas and want to explore the role of peoples and utilize it in the economic development of these areas. Peoples of Cholistan Desert are facing ecological as well as economic stress due to which they are suffered even basic necessities of life. Basic objective of her work is to highlights the problems of Cholistani peoples.For adequate Strategies adopted from Government for the reduction of poverty in these areas, a thorough study and quantitative evaluation of the potential and practicality of these measures in Cholistan is suggested.

Mariam Abbas Soharwardi is a Lecturer of Economics at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. After her M.Phil,she has conducted significant research on the rural areas of Pakistan for the welfare of peoples, and presented her work in numerous International Conferences and her Papers are published in International Academic Journals.
