Role of Harvesting Termite Anacanthotermes Macrocephalus in Arid Rajasthan Ecosystem

"Every species has its role in nature no matter what is its size and number" Termites are known to have role in destruction only which is only a trace of there role in the ecosystem. The harvesting termite Anacanthotermes macrocephalus play a key role in stabilizing the unique ecosystem of the 'Thar' desert of the western Rajasthan, India by providing food to many desert dwelling species and by recycling the nutrients in ecosystem.

Mrs. Sarika Pawar is keen naturalist and possess interest in conservation of wildlife through community participation She is member an NGO Society of Ecology and Rural Development Society, Jodhpur, she coordinates various awareness activities. She has done her Post Graduation in Wild Life Sciences from University of Kota, Rajasthan.
